10 tiny homes for sale in Ireland

A nice round-up of 10 tiny homes by The Irish Times includes this two-bedroom cottage called The Secret Garden in Tuosist, County Kerry, 12km away from Kenmare. Features include a wood-burning stove, baby Aga, bedrooms under the eaves and obviously some really spectactular views. On for€286,000 with Sherry FitzGerald Daly.

Tiny House Scotland

Tiny House Scotland is owned and run by Jonathan Avery whose flagship build is the NestHouse ("a highly insulated modular moveable small eco-house") which is 3.4m wide and available in three different lengths (3.6m, 4.8m and 6m) although the modular nature of the design means additional sections can be added. He is also working on a NestPod which will be 2.55m wide and road towable. Here's what Jonathan says about his work:
The NestHouse project is my personal crusade to bring together the physics of building science with aesthetic design and individual craftsmanship to create a new alternative for sustainable living. It’s a snug wooden building which could be an affordable starter home, a lifestyle micro living choice, or the venue for a home based business. The name came from the idea of a bird nesting box – a small, cosy, sustainable, eco-friendly unit which provides an essential survival shelter for the occupants.

Beach huts for sale

They're not really tiny homes (though you can sleep overnight in some of them) but it's that time of the year again when beach huts start to hit the headlines again. As always, it's the ludicrous price of beach huts on Mudeford Spit, Christchurch, Dorset that the media love to get up in arms about (the Metro is particularly 'outraged'). Pictured above is one of the most expensive, on at £275,000 with beach hut specialists Denisons which was built only eight years ago. It's double glazed and insulated, with a battery-operated pumped water system and water tank under the hut, gas water heater, inside lavatory with removable waste tank, mezzanine floor for sleeping, plus fridge, and solar panels. Could just about sleep 6.
