Square feet and affordability: New report

An interesting report from Savills for the FT looks at average salaries and floor areas, revealing for example that:
In London’s Kensington and Chelsea, an averagely paid worker with a 25 per cent deposit could stretch to 138 sq ft, only slightly larger than a parking space. That contrasts with Copeland in western Cumbria, where a worker on the local average salary can afford 1,608 sq ft — enough space for two badminton courts.
